Does size really matter?
What is in a size? Size really matters when we speak of residential houses. The bigger, of course the better as the space can accommodate more facilities. Moreover, travel and accessibility from one room to the other gives higher degree of mobility. Comparatively, small areas offer limited mobility because they can only bring in a handful of facilities. Anyway, the size will not define a comfortable living. The level of contentment depends on how the occupants managed to utilize and embrace the available design and services. In both cases, the purpose is for shelter, freedom and security. This post presents three model plans of affordable two story small home with three bedrooms. The designer’s ability to convey and make use of small size to appear big is really astonishing. Yet, the designs look taller and bigger than how we have ever imagined.

It is important to realize that an approximate area of 100 m² is all you need to build this house. The porch opens to the small foyer where the entirety of the living room, dining and kitchen are visible. The maid’s room and a toilet and bath completed the ground floor. Considering the elements, the ground floor already functions as a complete house. The three bedrooms occupy the sleeping quarter of the second level. Each of the bedrooms is equipped with built-in cabinets, the sizes of which are proportional to the bedrooms sizes. A small balcony is designed in front of the master’s bedroom where the street and neighborhood can be viewed pleasantly.
The exterior façade is a clear application of geometry of lines in play. The vertical and horizontal lines applied create an interesting effect on the frontage. The combination of five colors used on five different sections surprisingly worked well. Is it part of design or some sort of experimentation? To summarize, it requires 106 m² lot area to build this house which is in fact a revelation of flexibility and style.

Similar to the first plan, this house also has the living spaces (living, dining and kitchen) in the ground floor while the 3 bedrooms are situated in the upper floor. There are two toilet and bath units on service for this design. While the first house formulated five different colors, this one concentrated on customizing a range of monochrome color from off-white to medium brown. The result is melodramatic and warm ambiance. The creativeness and transition of colors from outside to the inside is visibly remarkable. Indeed, this design is recommended for home lovers.

Here is another plan that will captivate the hearts of many. Regardless of financial status, the overall appearance will prompt and drive families to own this. There are really houses that leave significant marks the first time you see them. And this is obviously one of them. Who would ever imagine that an area as small as this would provide you a garage and an open balcony on top? Well, that is the power of two story houses. The area is maximized by vertical construction giving way to accommodate all major elements of a home. The design registered a couple of geometric applications as you can see from various vertical and horizontal lines and shapes. This residence is planned with three bedrooms on the second floor while the common living rooms and spaces are arranged in the first floor. Two toilet and baths serve this house.
The design is a revelation of a playful mind. Small as it may seem, the connection between materials used and presentation created a structure with finesse and style. The choice of colors from flesh to light brown to maroon and with a little touch of yellow established a striking appeal to viewers. A design that an imaginative mind and perfectionist can ever produce.
The choice is open for you.
Once again, residential architecture delivers never-ending concepts of a home.
