After a day full of mixed emotions, directing and instructing movers, checking boxes, and unpacking, cleaning will be the last thing on your mind after your move.

Post-Move Cleaning Tips
If you have just moved to your new apartment, below are some tips that can help you clean your home efficiently and quickly:
1. Work from top to bottom and towards the door.
Cleaning from top to bottom is a strategy that you should do more often if you’re not doing it at all. Doing so ensures all the dirt and debris fall on the floor, making it easier for you to sweep or vacuum these later.
If you dust the floors first and the ceiling, cabinet and countertops, window sills, and other furniture later, the dirt and debris will fall on the already-clean surface. You will have to clean it up again, causing you to double your efforts and feel exhausted.
Also, when tidying up each room, start at the farthest point from the door and move slowly towards it. Doing so helps you avoid walking on wet or clean floors before they have time to dry and needing to clean your floors twice.
2. Give light fixtures a quick clean-up.
Dust and debris can easily accumulate on lighting fixtures. Because of this, you need to clean these before settling in.
If your apartment has glass or plastic light globes, wash those in the sink or a basin with warm water and soap. Allow them to air dry before putting them back.
If your apartment comes with ceiling fans, wipe them with a clean damp cloth or a hand vacuum.
3. Ensure your window treatments are clean.
Like lighting fixtures, your window treatments are prone to accumulating dust and dirt as well. If you haven’t washed them prior to your move, replace them with new ones and clean them later.
Soak the blinds or curtains in soapy water and scrub away any build-up if you have some time now.
Allow the curtains or blinds to dry before hanging them back.
4. Tidy up your bedroom.
Lying on a comfy bed is the first thing you might want to do after all the hustle and bustle of moving day. As such, you have to make sure your bedroom is clean and cozy when you’re ready to sleep.
Whether you brought your old mattress or using the one in the apartment, give it a quick vacuum. Vacuum the floor, window sills, and door, too.
Don’t forget to dust or vacuum the cabinets and other furniture pieces inside your bedroom.
5. Sanitise the bathroom.
The bathroom may be the most difficult area to clean in your new apartment. Hopefully, this room has been spruced up a bit before your move.
Spray all surfaces with a disinfectant spray. Also, use this product to sanitize hard-to-reach places, including under the sink, behind the toilet, and inside the medicine cabinet.
Aside from over-the-counter disinfecting sprays, you can make your own solution by combining one-third cup of bleach per gallon of water or four teaspoons of bleach per quart of water.
6. Disinfect the kitchen countertops and cabinets.
Like the bathroom, the kitchen also needs to be germ-free so that you can have peace of mind as you prepare and eat food in this room.
Spray the countertop and other surfaces inside the kitchen with a disinfectant spray and wipe it with a clean cloth.
You can also use disinfectant wipes to sanitize these surfaces.
To clean wooden furniture, make a solution of water and mild soap or use a wood cleaner.
7. Clean the cabinets.
The cabinets are often the most ignored features in rooms. However, cleaning them shouldn’t be a problem since it is a simple task to do.
You can use paper towels or microfiber cloths wet with a mild all-purpose cleaner to clean the interior and exterior of cabinets. If they are greasy, a solution of water and baking soda can help you get rid of the grease.
To have an easier time cleaning your cabinets next time and keep them tidy, line the shelves with shelf liners.
Don’t forget to give the cabinet doors and tops a thorough wipe down. If they are made of wood, use a cleaning solution formulated for this material.
Also, sanitize the handles and insides of the drawers and cabinets as well.
8. Tidy up the floor.
As mentioned, the floors should be the last thing you clean since all the dirt and dust you removed earlier will ultimately land here.
If you have carpeted floors, you’ll spend less time cleaning these since you simply have to vacuum them.
For hardwood and tiled floors, sweep, then mop them with a mild cleaning solution.
